Poker Attitude: Improves Your Game?

Poker after Dark, the popular NBC TV show takes a look at poker playing up close. One gets to hear the players talking so it feels like you’re right there with them. The series is structured as a week-long No Limit Texas hold ‘em mini-tournament for the top six poker professionals and each week, players vie for a $120,000 winner-takes-all pool, with each paying a $20,000 buy-in. Sounds like a lot of money but for the pros this is normal stakes.

Phill Hellmuth, best known for holding a record eleven World Series of Poker bracelets and his “poker brat” attitude. He usually wears a jersey that has it emblazoned on the back. In 1989, the 24-year-old Hellmuth became the youngest player to win the Main Event of the WSOP and held it until 2008, when 22-year-old Peter Eastgate became the youngest Main Event champion.

Now, these high stake games can be stressful and I want you to watch this video from a clip from the show:

If it takes an attitude to have results like Hellmuth, I’m thinking it’s worth it. No one can deny that he is good but many laughed that he acted like a brat during this hand. You decide….
